The priest in today’s mass asked this question during his homily, “can you think of a person in your life that would gladly give up their lives for you?”. Instantly I knew the answer to that. My mom.
A mother’s love knows no bounds. She would gladly give up her life for her child. A mother is one person who will stick by you through thick and thin. Love you when you’re at your most unlovable state. To her you’re the prettiest or handsomest person in this world, equal only to your siblings.
A mother will cook and clean for you without complaints. She will nurse you when you’re sick. Cheer for you when you do well. She will hug you when you fail. She will pat your back when you succeed. She will tell you the truth in a way that won’t hurt. She wishes the best for you always.
When the world is ready to give up on you, she’ll push you forward and help you find your way. She will fight for you till her last day on Earth.
My mom is all of the above and more. Apart from change, I only know of one constant in this world and that is the love of my mother. I have felt it from the day I was born and will feel it till the die I pass on. Her love has never waivered even when I made mistakes and disappointed her. She never counts my mistakes only the good things I’ve done.
When I felt that no one could love me because of my disability, she reminded me that she always would. For that I will forever be grateful.
Mom, I have not always been the perfect son. I’m sorry for the times I when I’m too tired or busy to answer your questions or fix your computer. I’m sorry for the times I forget to say thank you for the countless things you do for me.
I want you to know that I love you very much. I appreciate the things you do for me. I don’t know where I’ll be if it wasn’t for you and Dad. Whenever people tell me they’re so amazed by the things I’ve done, I always tell them it’s because I’ve had the best parents anyone could hope for. You are the biggest blessing I have in this world. If I lost everything I had for so long as I know that I still have you and Dad, the rest don’t matter.
God knows this, each time I pray the first thing I ask of him is to keep you and dad healthy and happy. If he only answered one prayer I would hope that it would be that.
