Thanks To All Those Who Sent Me Messages

A heartfelt thanks to all those people who took the time out to leave messages on my blog. I’ve been receiving a whole lot of them ever since Nina’s article came out and since the Pipol episode aired last Tuesday, well Wednesday early morning to be exact.

I’ve received messages from India, Kuwait, L.A. and some other places. I’m really touched and flattered that all those people cared enough to look for my blog and read through it. I’m happy because my campaign to create awareness for Pompe is slowly taking flight.

To all those who sent messages, I’m trying my best to reply to them. Please forgive me if my reply is late or if it still hasn’t arrived. Rest assured I read through all of them and value your thoughts, words and prayers. Many thanks and God Bless.

  1. i saw the episode of Pipol the other night (featuring you of course) thru the Filipino Channel. I’m a nurse working in Jeddah,KSA and it was the first time that I heard about Pompe. I admire your courage in fighting this disease. Though I don’t know you personally, you have made a great impact on me… I hope I can have the same courage that you have. You deserve more than my ‘thank you’ for giving me inspiration & making me aware of this very rare disease… you deserve more years to live to make other people realize the gift of life. more power to you dickoy, may God bless you always… I’m praying for you.

  3. Hi, I work for a company which produces a good news radio program over DZRH. Our show, iSKOR ko ‘to! which airs Sundays 9-10am over 666kHz on the dial, features Filipinos with inspiring stories to tell. Perhaps, if you can share your story in our radio program, we can help you make more people aware of Pompe. Please let me know how I may contact you aside from this site. I mean, telephone, mobile, etc. Thanks, hope you’re better today.

  4. Is there any org. or foundation where we can send our donations. Is it possible to get the bank account number so we can transfer money from abroad. I hope that readers of your blog will also help in raising funds for people who are suffering from Pompe but have no means to support their treatment.

  5. an act of good deed is better than a million of good intentions. i hope and pray that all the supporters and admirers of Dickoy will do something that could uplift the plight of Pompe sufferers who may not have the means & capabilities to support their treatment. Dickoy has done his part, what about us??

  6. Saw the episode in PIPOL (ANC – TFC) about you! You are a strong person and I admire your courage to move on with life. Like what you’ve said: We could be changed by an overnight accident, but the will to overcome trials comes by fighting and overcoming them! God bless!!!

Though I’m just a parent of a Cerebral Palsy patient, who is turning 4 years old this August, all I can do is to pray for you and your family to share wonderful things for those who are helpless. I also saw your story in PIPOL, gave me endless tears and undying hope in life. God is healing you right now, in the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

  14. Hi Juan! i watched u on tv patrol and i must say u really moved me when u said:”masama ang nangyari sa akin, pero mas maraming maganda/mabuti ang nangyari..” i dont know what else to say, but i guess u shook me up and reminded me of my favorite saying “When it’s hot, we want it cold. When it’s cold, we want it hot…always wanting what is not.” i’m sometimes one of those who complain a lot than being more grateful for what i have. all i want known to you right now is u inspire me and u even challenge me to be good, instead of being a whiner. u take ur battle with a very positive attitude. thank u for the inspiration and the courage. i will now face my own problem with ur courage in my heart.

thank u also for the knowledge and info about pompe.

i really wish u well today with many more days and months and years of a fruitful & meaningful life. 🙂

  17. HOSPITAL WINDOW

Two men both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans on the water, while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn’t hear the bond, he could see it in his mind’s eye, as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
    Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the Nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he popped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.
The Nurse responded the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said “ Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you !”

    Epilogue :

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can’t buy.

TODAY IS A GIFT, THAT’S WHY IT IS CALLED THE PRESENT.
