Life Begins At 30

I’m back!

First of all I’m sorry for not being able to blog for quite some time. Not that it matters really. I have about 2 to 3 regular readers, my mom included.

It’s great that I’m writing on this day. It’s my 30th birthday. As the saying goes, “Life begins at 30”. This birthday holds a very special meaning to me.

When I was growing up and just got diagnosed with Pompe disease the doctors who first saw me said that I’d probably not live past the age of 30. Well through God’s grace and the miracle of modern medicine, I just turned 30 and from the looks of it will live much longer (keeping my fingers crossed).

I consider the coming years to be bonus. Icing on the cake so to speak. I’m happy to be alive and to be enjoying God’s greatness.

I thank my family for my life and for whatever I am now. I thank my friends for making life a bit more interesting. For being there to support me through thick and thin.

My birthday wish is that my family continue to be healthy and happy. May they live long and be blessed abundantly by God. I also ask that God grant me better health so I can do whatever he needs me to do here.

If there’s any kindness left.. God, please give me the resources to buy a car. 😛

There’s been a lot that has been going on, I’ll write about them more in the coming days.

  1. thank you so much for your inspiring life. i’m a mother of 3 beautiful boys, currently living here in the middle east. it is very remarkable indeed that you’ve reached this year. by the way, a very blessed belated birthday to you. know what, am teary eyed as i write this message. because there are times that i get to complain about life, when in fact there are so much more i could thank for. i am just a year older than you, and yet i felt like you’re a lot older than me. and that i feel ashamed of, considering you’re confined in your “throne”, and me having complete physical faculties. anyway, just wanted to thank the Lord that i was able to read about you. i pray that He will always guide, protect and be with you. God bless you more and more each day. and may you touch more lives as you touched mine. and i promise that i will always intercede for you in prayers – in all your activities and endeavours. Mark 9:23 says, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” that bible verse you live up so well. again mr juan magdaraog, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  2. Glad to welcome you back to share with us. My Birthday wishes to you.

Life begins at 30, nicely said buddy. I hope there is much to go in your life, and I pray for you and your family to live happily for long.

    Take care 🙂

  3. Juan, I am touched by you story, and it is true, life does begin at 30. I just don’t know how that feels though, because i am only 21. Juan, I will pray for you and may God place his hands on you. God Bless.

  4. Happiness is a choice! May you continue on to focus your eyes on our Creator who had given us life (with a purpose). It is not our will, but the will of Him who has all died for our sins so we can experience eternity with God in Heaven one day. Your outlook in life is very encouraging despite of “this ability”. May you continue to inspire more people because there is really hope, hope because Christ our Redeemer has risen and will be returning back to bring His reward to His people.

  5. Hi Juan, nice to see you back after so long time. I was quite worry what happend with you. Now i hope you will be here more oftenly again. Good to know you are still ok. Eva friend and reader from czech republic

  6. I had no idea there existed such kind of disease. I must be sad to have it, but I hope sadness will not turn your world dark and that you will face both life and illness with a smile. God be with you and let you live for long years. Oh, and also be with the ones that search for cures for that illness so they can find a cure or a treatment (preferably cheap…).

Merry Christmas and happy New Year 2002+6!!

(PD: I hope you will get a car as a present)
